A Glimpse of Summer - June

This has been one busy summer and my mind is reeling at the fact that it is quickly coming to a close. My last post was about our trip to Seattle over Memorial Day weekend, which was kind of our "kickoff" to summer. Now I will attempt to fill in the highlights of the month of June.

In early June I celebrated my 29th birthday. It included some much needed "me time", some retail therapy, a scavenger hunt and a delicious homemade dinner by my wonderful husband. We also went out to dinner with the Troyers a few days later. It was a bit crazy with all 4 kids in tow, but fun nonetheless.

 I took the boys camping for a night with some of our friends for the Tillamook County Free Camping Weekend. It was a beautiful weekend and we enjoyed the fresh air, campfire smoke, delicious food and constant playtime!

We took a ride on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad from Rockaway Beach to Garibaldi and back for Father's Day. The boys loved it and they still talk about it every time we see the train...which is almost daily!

Some of Jeff's projects included his sail boat, and his garden. The garden is doing very well now that we have had some warm, sunny days. We have spent many evenings pulling weeds, picking vegetables, and eating delicious garden-fresh dinners as a family this summer. (Note: most of these garden photos are from July, but we have been enjoying the garden all summer).

In June we started the process of having Daniel tested for nut allergies. We made a trip into the Allergy Clinic in Portland where they did a scratch test for peanuts and cashews. In that test he tested negative for a peanut allergy, but positive for cashews. A few days later we did a blood draw to test for peanut allergy and it also came back negative. We will do an in-office food challenge soon as the final step to get him cleared to eat peanuts!

June also included the beginning of our summer with this wonderful group of people! We have enjoyed bonding with our TRFC family more than ever this summer. :)
