Seattle!

Over Memorial Day weekend we trekked up to Seattle with our dear friends the Troyers to go see a Mariners game and spend some time with grandparents.

We left late in the evening on Friday, not arriving at grandma and grandpa Sargent's house until after 10:00 PM. The kids all crashed pretty quickly and the adults followed soon after.

Saturday was a glorious day, and we spent the majority of it outside. First the boys all got tractor rides from Grandpa Roger, then we headed to Lake Wilderness for a picnic lunch and to play in the sunshine.

The kids played to their hearts' content which was great because by the time we were ready to head into Seattle for the game the boys were ready for naps. We were planning on parking in Tukwila and taking the lightrail into the game, mostly for the joy of riding on a train, but we didn't anticipate the fact that it was Memorial Day weekend and the train station was jam packed, so we just opted to drive all the way to Safeco.

It was amazingly hot sitting in the center field bleachers, so we ended up spending most of the game up on the top balcony where the breeze was blowing through. I probably only paid attention to about 1/4 of the game, but I do know that it was a pretty good game, even though the Mariners lost. There was one grand slam by the other team, and it was a pretty high scoring game (although I can't remember the score).

After the game we drove down to Ivar's on the waterfront for a delicious dinner of fish and chips. It was almost 9:00 by the time we ate dinner, but the kids were all troopers. Once again we arrived at the Sargent's house late at night, plopped the exhausted kiddos in bed and climbed in ourselves.

On Sunday morning we all headed back into Seattle to take a stroll through Pike's Place. Miraculously we all managed to stay together (it was so crowded!) and we even found some quiet tables in a pavillion to eat our Piroshki's (sp???) at. The Troyers headed back home after lunch, but we had decided to make an extended weekend out of our trip so that Jeff could attend at meeting with an engineer in Tacoma regarding some camp stuff.

On Monday we visited our dear friends the Tibbetts and got to meet sweet little Maciah for the first time. Jeff and I even got to go on a date on Monday evening! The boys and I just relaxed and played on Tuesday while Jeff was in meetings and then we headed home. It was a great weekend in Seattle!
